2024 Luxe Red Award Exterior Architecture Regional Winner (Colorado): Shadow Mountain Residence

Z Group Architecture & Interior Design is honored to be the recipient of the 2024 Luxe Red Award for Exterior Architecture as a Regional Winner.

Nestled at the base of Aspen’s Shadow Mountain, this residence draws inspiration from its dramatic namesake and showcases views of the mountain to the southeast as well as

vistas of the surrounding ski areas and river valleys. The tri-level home is composed of 8,240 square feet of living space, with 7 bedrooms, 7.5 bathrooms, media rooms, spa, and

gathering spaces opening the home to nature. The butterfly roofline meets the challenge of framing the immediately adjacent peak in the dining room windows as well as from the

primary suite’s bath, upstairs guest room, and den. Floor-to-ceiling windows and doors flood the home with natural light and uninterrupted views of the stunning surroundings.

Intentionally designed views straight through the home create the perception of the home being part of the environment, rather than a barrier set within it. An outdoor pool, spa,

pickleball court, and numerous decks welcome living connected to the outdoors. Living spaces open with pocketing doors and the removal of the corner structure to give seamless

access outside. Honoring the natural surroundings, honed and smooth textures of limestone on the exterior create striation and pair with cedar siding and warm white oak soffits

extending from the ceilings inside.
