Hallam House Transformation
Aspen, Colorado - West End
Modern Victorian
Single-Family Residence
About
This 5,233 square foot two-story single-family renovation sits on 0.138 acres. Inspired to create a Victorian with a modern twist within tight build parameters, the design opened the home to take advantage of views, natural light, and better flow throughout the space.
The home includes 5 bedrooms, 5 bath/2 powder rooms, open floor plan, front courtyard, and lower-level steam room, patio, and entertainment room with large wet bar. A new two-story entry connects the ground and upper level of the home and features floor-to-ceiling windows and a steel-wire, metal, and wood staircase. On the upper floor, the kitchen exchanged locations with the living room, allowing more natural light into the living room from north and south. Large sliding glass doors extend the home onto a large deck with hot tub.
Throughout the home, mismatched steps up and down into rooms were removed and interior floors reframed, bringing all to one level. A layout update made the master suite more functional and cohesive. Additional windows added to the master and secondary master bedrooms take advantage of the outdoor entry courtyard created by the shape of the building. The exterior renovation also included painted wood lapboard and a standing seam metal roof.
