Zoe Calahan

Interior Designer

Zoe Calahan was born and raised in Coastal Connecticut, surrounded by all things design and architecture. From a long lineage of interior designers and artists, Zoe was surrounded by hand-done drafting, furniture sketching, textiles, and paint swatches from the beginning. In school, Zoe would often be caught “doodling” while the teacher talked about history and science, calculating the square footage of the houses she had just drawn on the back of her notebook.

Zoe’s passion for cultivating relationships and bringing designs to life created a perfect path for her career as an interior designer. Zoe’s design efforts started at 18 years old when she built a non-profit business targeted to spreading the beauty of design and textiles to underprivileged areas around the world. It grew to a “pillow for a pillow” concept, where every decorative, designer fabric pillow sold around the country via trunk shows and wholesale sales provided a sleeping pillow for hospitals throughout Uganda. This small-scale business grew her relationships with textile vendors and design firms in the New York area and led to an evolving career in design. East Coast design was her comfort zone but Zoe wanted to diversify her abilities, so she ventured to Colorado. Her East Coast roots met with her love of the mountains and modern architecture deliver versatile spaces and a mix of approach as she dives into every project. With education from Trinity College in Hartford, CT, and Parsons School of Design in New York, with a more recent refresher education from Heritage School of Design in Denver, Zoe is dedicated to evolving education and relevance in the world of design.

Beyond her profession, which often crosses over into her personal life, Zoe loves being outside with her friends. Whether it’s wetting a line on the Roaring Fork River, a bike ride after work, walks with her pup Moose, or a live summer concert out at the Basalt River Park, Zoe chases the outdoors whenever possible. She is still figuring out how to get to the East Coast more to see her extensive family without airline cancellations and snow storms, but has at least found an amazing place to call home within the Roaring Fork Valley.
